What does a typical day look like at The Petaway?
During a full day of daycare at The Petaway, dogs can enjoy multiple play sessions in an engaging open play environment, socializing and playing with both other dogs and attentive staff. To cater to their needs, there are crates and comfortable beds available for dogs to rest and take breaks in the event that they become tired during the day. The daycare is equipped with multiple pens and kennels, allowing dogs to have a temporary respite from the open play area if they require some downtime or prefer a quieter space. Along with scheduled nap times, this setup ensures that dogs receive ample opportunities for rest, while still enjoying an active and social day.
As part of the full day of daycare at The Petaway, a refreshing walk is included. This walk serves as a valuable opportunity for dogs to have a change of scenery and enjoy some time away from the open play environment, allowing them to explore, stretch their legs, and experience new sights and smells. It adds variety to their day, ensuring they receive both mental and physical stimulation in a different setting.
Understanding that leaving a beloved dog for daycare can be nerve-wracking for pet parents, The Petaway takes every measure to ensure a safe, enriching and monitored environment where dogs can thrive, helping to alleviate any concerns pet parents may have. At The Petaway, pet parents have the opportunity to monitor their dogs' fun-filled day in daycare from the comfort of their own homes, There are webcams in each daycare room to provide a convenient way for pet parents to keep an eye on their furry friends and witness the engaging activities and interactions they experience during their time at daycare. This feature allows pet parents to feel connected and reassured while their dogs are in a safe and supervised environment, enhancing their peace of mind and strengthening the bond between them and their pets.
our
goals
for safety
At The Petaway, ensuring the health and well-being of all dogs is of utmost importance. Therefore, we have specific vaccination requirements in place. The required vaccinations include core vaccines, which are essential for preventing common and highly contagious diseases. These include vaccinations against rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and bordetella, commonly known as kennel cough, to further safeguard against respiratory infections. These vaccination requirements help maintain a safe and healthy environment for all dogs attending daycare, ensuring protection against potential infectious diseases. Pet parents are required to provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations prior to their dog's visit at The Petaway.
required vaccines
Rabies
The rabies vaccine is required for dogs in accordance with local laws and regulations. It is typically administered to puppies once at or before 16 weeks of age, followed by a booster shot one year later. After the initial year, the rabies vaccine is usually given every three years. The importance of the rabies vaccine lies in the fact that rabies is a highly dangerous viral disease that can affect both animals and humans. It is primarily transmitted through the bites or scratches of infected animals. Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms manifest, making prevention through vaccination crucial.
DHPP/DHLPP
The DHPP/DHLPP vaccine, also known as the "distemper/parvo" vaccine, is required for dogs as part of their vaccination schedule. It is typically administered starting at 6-8 weeks of age, with boosters given at intervals and repeated a year later. This vaccine is essential because it protects dogs from highly contagious and potentially life-threatening diseases such as distemper and parvovirus. By ensuring dogs receive the DHPP/DHLPP vaccine, we help safeguard their health, prevent the spread of these diseases, and promote a safer and healthier dog population overall.
BORDETELLA
The Bordetella vaccine is required for dogs, particularly those who are frequently in social settings or boarding facilities. It is recommended that the vaccine be administered every six months to maintain a strong level of immunity. The Bordetella vaccine is important because it helps control and prevent the spread of germs that cause kennel cough. Even if a vaccinated dog contracts kennel cough, the illness tends to be milder and resolves faster than in unvaccinated dogs, ensuring the well-being of both the vaccinated dog and others they come into contact with.
